Strength Training for Children

Children are encouraged to begin building their foundation for a healthy life with regular physical activity at an early age – it will help them stay fit and active throughout their lives.

Coach Matt of NBS Fitness discussed the importance of strength training, specifically for children, teenagers, and possibly adults. Even if they’re a little older, around 12 or 15 years old, strength training is still important for them. It is critical to start your children’s training as soon as possible because it will help them grow and develop.

We need to get these kids moving when they’re young, teaching them how to squat, how to hinge properly, how to move, how to throw, how to lunge, all the basic human movements. 

NBS Fitness wants to start teaching techniques from a young age. Then, as they get older, they’ll add barbells, dumbbells, or any other type of external low that can help them get stronger. This will be extremely important for the development of the muscular-skeletal, and nervous systems. Getting stronger and gaining muscle will benefit all of the factors that interact in a healthy young human being.

As a result, they’ll burn more calories at rest with that extra muscle, they’ll burn more fat and they’ll also look and feel better. Moreover,  they will become more confident as they progress through middle school, high school, and college. It is fantastic to begin training these children at a young age as it will establish a habit that they should be able to maintain for the rest of their lives and will position them for success in everything they do.

No matter what type of athlete we are, strength training should be a regular part of our workout routine. Coach Matt believes that anyone who is a human being is an athlete so it is never too early to start your children on a strength training program. It is an excellent way to teach them not only how to build muscle and improve bone density, but also how to be disciplined, dedicated, and responsible.
